My journey as a dog trainer took a surprising turn in 2016, when I fell head over heels for a two-year-old German Shepherd named Zoey (pictured here).
At the time, I was gearing up to launch my training business and volunteering at a local rescue, walking the “Red Dogs”—the strong, spicy, or extra-sensitive ones. Zoey was one of them. Our first walk felt like magic, and before I knew it, she’d picked us as her family.
I thought love, a safe home, and a bit of training would smooth out any rough edges. Spoiler alert: it didn’t. Zoey was scared of strangers, panicked when left alone (once injuring herself trying to find me), and clearly carried some heavy emotional baggage. I was in over my head—and determined to help her.
That determination sparked something bigger. I dove into the world of behavior science and positive, force-free training, and never looked back. Zoey is the reason I now specialize in helping reactive, anxious, and fearful dogs—and their amazing humans—build confidence, connection, and calm.
Today, I bring 20+ years of hands-on dog experience, along with certifications from ABC College and Absolute Dogs (Pro Dog Trainer + Geek Behavior Program). I’ve worn a lot of hats—walker, boarder, trainer—but my heart belongs to the reactive dogs who just need someone to understand them.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, I’ve been there. You’re not alone—and I’m here to help.
